[Albuquerque, NM]—The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History will host students from 12 schools during Nuclear Science Week, October 21-25, 2024. Over 970 elementary, middle, and high school students will engage in hands-on activities celebrating Nuclear Science Week. Museum staff, volunteers, and local professionals in the nuclear industry will host activities at the museum from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm daily to teach topics such as nuclear energy, medicine, and radiation in the world around us and more.
Through grant funding acquired by the museum, most of the students and teachers participating in the week’s nuclear science activities are from Title 1 schools around Albuquerque and have received free busing and admission to attend and participate in the national recognition of how nuclear science plays a vital role in the lives of Americans—and the world.
“Our local outreach during Nuclear Science Week is dedicated to promoting education and inspiring the next generation of scientists. Students will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on experiments, demonstrations, and career exploration opportunities,” said Jennifer Hayden, President and CEO of the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History. “We’re excited to bring together our educational team, volunteers, and local experts to celebrate the remarkable achievements of nuclear science and its potential for shaping our future.”
