The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History Announces Appointment of Dr. Michael J. Cumboto Board of Trustees

[Albuquerque, NM] – The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History, a non-profit, congressionally chartered, Smithsonian Affiliate, announced the appointment of Dr. Michael J. Cumbo to the Museum's Board of Trustees.

Dr. Cumbo brings a wealth of expertise to the Board. As the Founder and Chairman of Sandia Electro-Optics Corporation (SE-OC), an Albuquerque-based incubator of new technologies and business concepts, he has made significant contributions in the life science, semiconductor capital equipment, and commercial space market segments. SE-OC's wholly-owned subsidiary, Unique Services LLC, operates a prototype computer numerical control (CNC) machine shop that helps entrepreneurial customers rapidly develop and commercialize their new products and processes.

"His demonstrated leadership at high-performing organizations, his extensive knowledge of engineering, and his steadfast dedication to preserving and promoting the rich history of nuclear science position him as a valuable asset to the museum."

"I look forward to contributing to preserving and promoting the rich history of nuclear science and leveraging my experience to support the Museum's mission, especially its STEM educational outreach efforts."

Dr. Cumbo earned a BS in physics, an MS in optical engineering, a PhD in optics from the University of Rochester, and an MS in electrical engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology.
